Allow me to apologize: I’ve been M.I.A. for quite a while on this here blog. The combination of holiday games, the girl who is effectively my faux wife now, and my new job are depriving me of time to wax poetic. After about 10 months of working as a Creative Writer for Ganz, writing up technical specs and functionality and designing parts of a large-scale project, I’ve moved into the realm of marketing, public relations, and community management. I’m in the process of taking over this role at Ganz now for Webkinz.
So what does that have to do with blogging? Well, part of my job is to blog for Webkinz. Any and all news, previews, interviews, and features pertaining to Ganz from the official first-party source will be penned by me, so my blogging itch will largely be scratched by that. I’ll likely post some random musings here once in a while, but otherwise, you can catch me over at Webkinz Newz, where I intend to bring more depth and insight into the surprisingly-rich world of Webkinz.

I’ve recently been conducting a fairly in-depth study on “envy,” one of mankind’s most distinguishing traits. Scientific study has shown that envy is an entirely human state of mind (not to be confused with territoriality and other behaviors that suggest envy if mapped to a similar human anthroposocilogical occurrence), and it is that very uniqueness which makes the trait so interesting to study. This study was prompted, of course, by the inspiration that births most scientific pursuit: its student’s desire to understand himself and his world.
Well, that and the fact that I discovered that Scarlett Johansson is one month younger than I—almost to the day.

As a privileged, white, middle-class Canadian man, I’ve not dealt with any real “struggle” nor the legacy of any real struggle. While today’s Western society is for the most part far more free and liberal than it was in the past, there are still those that fight battles. I am not one of them.
Unfortunately for me, I’ve little to believe in as a result. I have nothing to fight for. My worldview is my own and no one is challenging me to think a certain way or act a certain way. There are no repercussions to my actions, my thoughts, or my beliefs. And, as a result, I don’t—and frankly can’t—truly believe in anything.

The following is an aside. Allow me to quote an IM I received today:
So wait, what? What’s up with the new blogging style? I thought you were Flogging again like old times. How’s work going? Does that new girl you’re chasing hate you yet?
That’s the basic gist of feedback I’ve been getting, and that feedback is the reason for today’s break from what will, from here on out, be the norm for the site. I suppose I should’ve mentioned this in the reboot post, but I guess now it’s a matter of “better late than never.” So here goes.

So remember when I said I was going to start a video blog? And then I did two posts and never touched it again? Turns out I’m lazy, and yet I like typing 5,000 word blog posts.
And that’s the story of how Flog returned.
In all seriousness, I’ve decided that I’m going to return to my old ways. I’ve struggled over the past few months to find an outlet for my blogging urges; for a while I thought Twitter would suffice, but it’s simply too hard to wax poetic with 140 characters. I’m more a Joyce or a Dickens than an Ezra Pound. Brevity is not my strong suit.
